Back to topics ↑Are your EV chargers compatible with all electric vehicles?
Yes. Our EV chargers are designed to work with electric vehicles that have a Type 2 AC charging port, which is the standard used by modern Australian-market EVs. This includes models from Tesla, BYD, MG, Hyundai, Kia, BMW and other brands.
Is a charging cable included with every EV charger?
Our standard tethered wall chargers include an attached Type 2 charging cable. Our smart 7kW and 22kW socketed wall chargers need a separate Type 2-to-Type 2 cable, which you can purchase in 5m, 7m or 10m lengths.
Both of our portable charger options include a Type 2 charging lead, and the 4-in-1 portable model also includes four adaptors for different outlet types. Each product page lists exactly what is supplied.
What size EV charger do I need?
For the vast majority of Australian homes, a 7kW single-phase wall charger is the best starting point: it is designed for convenient everyday and overnight charging. If you have three-phase power and a vehicle that accepts faster AC charging, choose a 22kW wall charger. For travel or charging from an existing outlet, choose one of our portable chargers instead.
Our wall chargers have adjustable maximum charging current, so your licensed electrician can configure the installation to match the power available at your property.
Do you have a tool for selecting the correct EV charger?
Yes. Our Find My Charger tool makes choosing the right EV charger simple. Answer a few quick questions about where you want to charge, your electrical supply and your charging needs, and the tool will help you find a suitable wall-mounted or portable charger from our range.
Is a 7kW charger enough for home use?
Yes. For most drivers, a 7kW charger is an excellent home charging solution. On a suitable 32A single-phase circuit, it can deliver up to approximately 7kW, making overnight charging easy. Its maximum current can also be adjusted by the installer to suit the electrical supply.
A 22kW charger is worth considering when you have three-phase power and your EV can take advantage of faster AC charging.
What is the difference between a 7kW and a 22kW EV charger?
A 7kW wall charger uses suitable single-phase power and is the practical choice for the vast majority of homes. A 22kW wall charger is designed for three-phase power and can deliver up to 22kW on a suitable installation.
Your car sets the maximum AC charging speed. For example, a car limited to 11kW AC will charge at no more than 11kW, even from a 22kW charger.
Will a 22kW charger charge my car three times faster?
Yes, potentially, but only if your car supports 22kW AC charging and the electrical installation can supply it. Many EVs are limited to 7kW or 11kW AC charging, so those cars will not charge three times faster with a 22kW charger.
Check your vehicle's maximum AC charging rate: it is the key number for whether it will charge faster with a 22kW charger.
What is the difference between a portable EV charger and a wall-mounted EV charger?
A wall-mounted charger is professionally installed for convenient everyday use. Our wall-mounted models offer up to 7kW on single-phase power or up to 22kW on suitable three-phase power.
A portable charger plugs into an existing, appropriately rated outlet and travels with you. Our standard 10A portable charger delivers up to 2.4kW from an Australian household power point; our 4-in-1 portable charger comes with 10A, 15A and industrial outlet adaptors and can deliver up to 22kW on a suitable three-phase supply.
Can I use a portable EV charger with a normal power point?
Yes. Our 10A portable EV charger is designed specifically for a standard Australian 10A power point. It limits charging to 10A (up to approximately 2.4kW) and comes with a Type 2 charging lead. It is ideal for occasional charging and travel.
What power outlets can I use with the 4-in-1 portable EV charger?
Our 4-in-1 portable model includes a 10A adaptor, plus 15A and suitably rated industrial adaptors. Higher charging speeds require the corresponding suitable outlet. Never force a 15A or industrial plug into a 10A outlet or use an unsuitable adaptor.
How long does it take to charge an electric car?
Charging time depends mainly on how much energy the battery needs and the maximum AC power your car will accept. At a full 7kW charging rate, the charger can supply about 7kWh per hour before charging losses. For example, adding 35kWh would take roughly 5 to 6 hours under suitable conditions.
A 22kW charger can be substantially faster when your vehicle and three-phase installation support it. Use the charging-time calculator below for an estimate tailored to your battery and charging rate.
Indicative estimate only. Assumes 90% overall charging efficiency and a constant average charging power. Charging speed can vary; check your EV and electrical installation specifications.
Do I need Wi-Fi or an app to charge my EV?
No. Our standard 7kW and 22kW wall chargers work as standalone plug-and-charge units, with no Wi-Fi, app or account required for everyday charging. They also have a delayed-start option.
Choose a smart wall charger if you want remote app monitoring, flexible scheduling, RFID access or compatible energy-management features.
Will it work with my EV?
Connectors, cable choices and useful accessories, explained in plain English.
Back to topics ↑What is a Type 2 EV charging cable?
A Type 2 EV charging cable is a cable that connects an electric car to an EV charger. Type 2 is the standard charging connection used by modern Australian-market EVs.
Our 7kW Type 2 cables are designed for single-phase charging. Our 22kW Type 2 cables work with both single-phase and three-phase charging, making them suitable for more charging setups. The actual charging speed depends on your car and charger.
What is a tethered charger?
A tethered charger has its Type 2 cable permanently attached, so you simply park, plug in and charge. Our standard 7kW and 22kW wall chargers are tethered.
An untethered charger has a Type 2 socket instead. Our smart 7kW and 22kW wall chargers are socketed, so you choose and purchase a separate suitable Type 2 charging cable in the length you prefer.
Which charging cable length should I choose?
For most driveways and garages, a 5m Type 2 cable is a practical choice. Choose 7m or 10m when the charger will be further from your car's charging port or you need more flexibility with parking direction.
Measure the actual path between the charger and the vehicle before ordering, and choose a cable rated for your charging setup. We stock Type 2 charging cables in 5m, 7m and 10m lengths.
What is a V2L adaptor?
A vehicle-to-load (V2L) adaptor lets a V2L-enabled electric car supply electricity to compatible appliances or equipment using energy stored in the car battery. It is a way to power devices from the vehicle, not a way to charge the vehicle.
V2L is supported only by certain vehicles. Choose an adaptor that is confirmed compatible with your particular make and model; a Type 2 charging port alone does not mean a car supports V2L.
Can I use a 22kW Type 2 cable with a 7kW charger?
Yes. Our 22kW Type 2 charging cables are backward-compatible with 7kW single-phase Type 2 charging. They will not make a 7kW charger or your car charge faster than its rated limit.
A separate cable is needed only for a charger with a Type 2 socket. Our tethered wall chargers already have their own charging cable.
Can the same EV charger be used with different electric cars?
Yes. One Type 2 charger can be used with different Type 2-equipped EVs - ideal for households or workplaces with more than one vehicle. Connect and charge one vehicle at a time.
Each car automatically controls the maximum AC power it accepts, so charging speed can differ between vehicles using the same charger.
Get the setup right
What your electrician needs to check before you buy or install a fixed EV charger.
Back to topics ↑Can I install an EV charger myself?
A fixed wall-mounted EV charger must be installed and connected by a licensed electrician. Once installed and commissioned, our standard wall chargers are ready to use - simply plug in your vehicle.
Our portable plug-in chargers do not require permanent installation when used with an existing, safe, properly rated outlet. Any new power point or electrical modification must be installed by a licensed electrician.
Who is responsible for the installation?
You arrange a licensed electrician to install your fixed EV charger. The electrician will assess the available power, select appropriate circuit protection, mount and connect the unit, and configure its charging current for the installation.
Will I need to upgrade my electrical system?
Not necessarily. Many homes can use a 7kW single-phase charger without upgrading to three-phase power, provided the existing electrical installation has enough available capacity. Our wall chargers have adjustable charging current, so an electrician may be able to set a lower maximum to match your supply.
To achieve the full 22kW output, you need suitable three-phase power and sufficient electrical capacity. A licensed electrician can confirm what your property supports.
Can a 22kW EV charger be installed in any home?
No - not every home has the three-phase electrical supply needed for full 22kW charging. Our 22kW wall chargers are designed for suitable three-phase installations, and the car must also support 22kW AC charging to reach that speed.
If your home has single-phase power, our 7kW wall chargers are the straightforward home-charging choice.
Do I need three-phase power?
No, not for a 7kW wall charger: our 7kW units operate on suitable single-phase power. To get the full 22kW from one of our 22kW wall chargers, you need an appropriately rated three-phase supply.
Our 4-in-1 portable charger can be used at lower power through its supplied 10A or 15A adaptors; its maximum 22kW output requires a suitable three-phase industrial outlet.
Can an EV charger be installed outdoors and used in the rain?
Yes. Our fixed wall chargers are designed for Australian conditions and carry weather-resistance ratings of IP54 or IP65, depending on the model. They can be used outdoors when correctly installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Our 10A portable charger has an IP66-rated control box and an IP55-rated charging handle. Do not use damaged charging equipment or allow connections to sit in standing water.
Can your EV chargers be installed in South Australia?
South Australia has additional requirements for installed EV charging equipment. Our standard, non-connected wall chargers are not suitable for installation in South Australia under the current rules.
If you are installing a charger in South Australia, consider one of our connected smart models and have your local licensed electrician confirm that the particular model meets the current South Australian requirements before purchasing.
Make more of your energy
Scheduling, solar-aware charging, connected features and load balancing.
Back to topics ↑Can I use an EV charger with solar power?
Yes. Our smart 7kW and 22kW wall chargers support solar-aware charging. With the matching optional CT monitoring kit installed, the charger can measure site power use and adjust its output to make better use of available excess solar generation.
Our standard wall chargers can also charge while your home's solar panels are generating, but they do not automatically track excess solar production.
What is a smart EV charger?
Our smart 7kW and 22kW wall chargers give you mobile-app control, charging-session monitoring, flexible schedules, adjustable charging current, RFID access control and OCPP 1.6J connectivity.
They are also ready for solar-aware charging and dynamic load balancing with the matching CT module, sold separately. If you simply want to plug in and charge without an app, our standard wall chargers are designed for exactly that.
Can I schedule charging for off-peak electricity times?
Yes. Our standard 7kW and 22kW wall chargers have a built-in delayed-start function, so you can set charging to begin later. Our smart wall chargers offer flexible charging schedules through their mobile app, making it easy to use off-peak electricity rates.
Our 10A portable charger also offers an adjustable timer, while the 4-in-1 portable model provides scheduling through Bluetooth app control.
What is EV charger load balancing?
Dynamic load balancing automatically adjusts the EV charger's power while other electrical equipment is running. This helps keep the total demand within the available electrical capacity.
Our smart 7kW and 22kW wall chargers support this feature when paired with the correct optional CT monitoring kit. The kit is installed and configured as part of the electrical installation.
Do I need an extra accessory for solar-aware charging and load balancing?
Yes. For our smart wall chargers, automatic solar-aware charging and dynamic load balancing require a matching CT monitoring module, sold separately. There is a single-phase kit for the smart 7kW model and a three-phase kit for the smart 22kW model.
Your installer fits and configures the CT module. No CT kit is needed for ordinary plug-in charging or the standard app-based charging schedules.

Can I request a quote for a commercial or bulk order?
Yes. We supply EV charging equipment for residential, commercial and business applications. Please contact us with your requirements for a trade or bulk order quote.
What does OCPP mean for commercial EV chargers?
OCPP stands for Open Charge Point Protocol. Our smart 7kW and 22kW wall chargers support OCPP 1.6J, allowing integration with a compatible charging-management platform - useful for workplaces, shared charging locations and fleets.
Our standard plug-and-charge wall chargers do not include OCPP. If you require central monitoring, user management or billing, choose a smart charger and confirm the features offered by your preferred management platform.
Can I restrict access to a charger at my business?
Yes. Our smart wall chargers include RFID access control, so charging can be restricted to authorised users. They also support OCPP 1.6J for connection to compatible commercial charging-management software.
If you need controlled access or a managed workplace setup, choose a smart model rather than a standard plug-and-charge wall charger.
